SPIRITUAL

Project Name: St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Location: Flint, Michigan

Client: Parish of St. Paul's Episcopal

Project Type: Spiritual

Built in 1872, the ornate gothic interior of St. Paul's Episcopal Church was being renovated for the congregation's sesquicentennial celebration. Illuminart was called upon to design a lighting plan that is sensitive to, and could highlight the sanctuary's proud architecture and artifacts, as well as improve illumination among the pews.

The pendant system was redesigned to increase illumination levels and uniformity for reading in the pews. The redesigned pendants include an uplighting component that brings the beautifully patterned ceiling out of the darkness. To preserve the historical integrity of the church, new fixtures are discretely hidden from view, while accenting and adding drama to the lectern, choir, and other alter areas.

A multi-scene dimming system, with timed cross-fades, provides user convenience and flexibility, all while increasing lamp-life, decreasing energy and maintenance costs.
