SPECIAL PROJECTS
Project Name: Red's Rec Room
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Client: Strategic Leisure
Project Type: Special Projects
Recalling the days of the wood-paneled suburban basement, Red's Rec Room is a family entertainment center in Edmonton, Alberta, that includes dining, dancing, games, billiards, and bowling. The eclectic mid-century basement design theme required stylistic lighting elements and dramatic highlights using an energy efficient design.
Illuminart developed a lighting plan that strengthens the interior design theme of the residential basement. Custom "Sputnik" fixtures are used throughout the space, and exude 1950's. Track lighting with color filters accents perimeter architecture, graphics, and décor. The bowling alley has a playful array of fluorescent lighting with rich color filters, and blacklight effects, fog machines, making this area exciting and suitable for families and fun-loving adults.
To keep energy costs low, fluorescent and 50w HIR quartz lamps were used. Programmed dimming on incandescent sources controls the entire system, extend lamp life, while reducing energy and maintenance costs.
