Automotive

Project Name: Audi Park Avenue Showroom

Location: Manhattan, New York

Client: Audi of America

Project Type: Automotive Retail

After homes, automobiles are the largest single product purchases most consumers make. Because of this, and the Park Avenue location, Audi of America wanted a setting more fitting for a jeweler than an auto dealer. Illuminart was brought into the retail-oriented project because of an extensive history in automotive, retail, and entertainment lighting. The sophisticated interiors palette with materials such as beech wood, terrazzo flooring, sand-blasted glass, are sensitively illuminated. However, the clear emphasis in the space remains the cars which are illuminated in a fashion commonly found in high-end boutiques.

This boutique-like concept relies on zone-lighting to create drama and visual dynamics. Lighting for the space is unique in that no general lighting was specified. All lighting throughout the space is focused lighting, which supports the visual merchandising strategy. One bit of lighting spectacle is the color changing montage used to illuminate a sand-blasted glass partition, which is achieved though the use of computer controlled fiber-optics.
