PROFILESStefan R. Graf, PrincipalIALD, LC, IESNAStefan Graf began his career as a lighting designer in an era that revolutionized lighting design to the concert touring industry. In the late 60's, Graf provided services for a variety of international concert and theatrical productions. He was involved in many aspects, from lighting design and direction to the engineering of mechanical and electrical systems for broadcast video and live shows. In 1975, Graf founded Fantasee Lighting to serve unique lighting needs of video, corporate theater, exhibits and stage shows. While with Fantasee, Graf developed the 1st automated stage light, a precursor to today's popular automated fixture. Graf is a leader in exhibit lighting, and was one of the first lighting designers to bring automated fixtures to the North American International Auto Show. As the market changed, Graf saw the need for a design firm that focused on the needs of commercial, retail, and residential architectural projects and founded Illuminart. Graf and his team at Illuminart provide professional architectural lighting design services that deliver value engineered, sustainable lighting solutions for clients around the globe. Graf has received over 38 International Illumination Design Awards,
including two IIDA Awards of Distinction, and his projects have
been featured in a variety of industry publications, including Lighting
Dimensions, LD&A, and Architectural Lighting magazine. Graf,
an active member of the design community, is a proponent of sustainable
design through cost effective design programs. Additionally, Graf
is helping to ensure a promising future for lighting design by severing
in various leadership positions in both the IALD and IESNA, as well
as instructing lighting design courses at various universities,
